Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, the Grizzlies are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Magic. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 222 points. The public betting currently has 79 percent going on the Grizzlies as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Magic pick up road wins

Orlando is coming off road wins over the Timberwolves and Rockets over the last week. The Magic have also covered the spread in seven of their last eight. Orlando is 29-35 on the season, 13-20 on the road, 30-32-2 against the spread and 32-29-3 with the over.

The Magic are giving up just 107.2 points per game on defense this season while opponents are held to 46.3 percent shooting. Offensively, Orlando is averaging 106.2 points per game while the team shoots 44.1 percent from the floor. Nikola Vucevic is leading the Magic with 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. Evan Fournier is adding 18.8 points per game. Fournier is out for this game due to an elbow injury.

Grizz heating up

Memphis is coming off a 118-101 win at home over Atlanta on Saturday for a fourth win and cover in five games. The Grizzlies are 32-32 on the season, 18-14 at home, 34-29-1 against the spread and 35-29 with the under.

The Grizzlies give up 113.6 points per game on defense this season while opponents shoot just 45 percent against them. Memphis is putting up 112.6 points per contest while shooting 47 percent as a team. Memphis remains without Jared Jackson Jr. right now due to a knee injury. He averages 16.9 points per game. Ja Morant is leading the team with 17.6 points and 7.0 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Orlando

The Magic have covered the spread in six straight road games and in four straight as an underdog.

Memphis

The Grizzlies are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite.

Prediction:

Orlando dominated the first meeting back in November, 118-86 at home. The Grizzlies are a much different team now as Morant has hit his stride in his rookie season. Recent outings for the Grizzlies have resulted in wins, but the only one that was impressive was the win over the Lakers. The other wins have been against lackluster teams. Memphis hasn’t been terribly reliable throughout the season due to inconsistent offense and defense. I think their up-speed tempo will be slowed down by the Magic tonight. Orlando is good at controlling the pace of play and I think the Magic will find offense without Fournier due to Memphis’ lack of ability to make stops. Not having Jackson will also make an impact in the paint.

NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic +2.5
