Magic fall in Boston
Orlando is coming off a 116-100 loss at Boston last night. The Magic have now lost and failed to cover in six of their last seven games. Orlando is 22-29 on the season, 9-17 on the road, 22-27-2 against the spread and 28-21-2 with the under.
The Magic have the league’s top-ranked defense, allowing just 104.8 points per game while opponents shoot 45.7 percent against them. Offensively, Orlando is putting up just 103.3 points per game while shooting 43.2 percent as a team. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 18.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Evan Fournier is adding 18.7 points per contest.
Knicks seek win streak
New York is coming off a 139-134 OT win at Cleveland on Monday for a second consecutive victory. The Knicks are 15-36 on the season, 7-18 at home, 27-24 against the spread and 29-22 with the under.
The Knicks are allowing 111.7 points per game on defense this season, but opponents shoot 38.7 percent from the arc against them. Offensively, New York is putting up 104.5 points per game while shooting just 43.9 percent as a team. Marcus Morris Sr. is leading the team with 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He has been the talk of some trade discussion with the deadline hitting later today. Julius Randle is adding 18.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Thursday games.
New York
The Knicks are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, but just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games playing on two days of rest.
Prediction:
Orlando won the first meeting with New York back in October, 95-83. The Magic have really been struggling on offense as of late, scoring 100 or less in five of their last six games. While New York isn’t known for defense, the Magic are an awful offense that I would expect would have trouble coming off playing last night in Boston. The Knicks actually have a little momentum going and are well rested coming into today’s game.
NBA Prediction: New York Knicks +3
