New Orleans Pelicans DFS Spin
Zion Williamson is expected to miss “multiple weeks” with a right hamstring strain, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The team’s update said that Zion will be re-evaluated in three weeks, so we’re looking at a lengthy absence for him. Naji Marshall should enter the starting unit in his place, where he has averaged 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 triples in five starts without Zion this season. Larry Nance is also dealing with injuries, though he will play a large role when he’s back. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes should also play big roles and are worth a stream in deeper leagues.
Dallas Mavericks DFS Spin
Luka Doncic finished Thursday’s big loss to Boston with 23 points on 7-of-23 shooting, nine rebounds, four assists and three turnovers across 31 minutes. Heading into Thursday’s home matchup with the Celtics, the Mavs were on the NBA’s longest winning streak at seven games. Over the course of that win streak, Doncic was unbelievably hot, averaging 41.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 9.9 dimes and 2.3 steals with three 50-point games and two triple-doubles. Maybe the heavy lifting finally got to him, or maybe he was just sick, but it was clear from the outset of this game that something was off with Doncic. He looked fatigued as soon as he stepped on the court, and he was seen coughing so much that the broadcasters mentioned it and showed clips of it during the game. Despite the lethargy or illness, Doncic dropped 20 first-half points and looked like he was on his way to another big game. He finished with only three more points the rest of the way as his teammates did nothing to help him, and the Mavs’ win streak was snapped. Dallas plays New Orleans on Saturday, and we’ll keep an eye on Doncic’s status ahead of that one.
