Pelicans vs. Warriors Pick
Can the visiting New Orleans Pelicans hang with the powerful Golden State Warriors tonight at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Warriors are a 13-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 229 points.
New Orleans enters with an 11-8 record and 12-7 ATS after a 115-91 victory at the Suns. Golden State is 14-5 and 8-11 ATS following a 143-94 home win over the Bulls. The Warriors won the first meeting this season by a 128-120 victory at the Pelicans. Golden State is 5-0 straight up but only 1-4 ATS in the five meetings since the start of last season. The over is 4-1.
In the win at Phoenix, New Orleans was led by Anthony Davis with 23 points and nine rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins had 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Jrue Holiday had 18 points and five assists. The Pelicans led 72-42 at halftime.
Steph Curry led the shorthanded Warriors with 33 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win over Chicago. Klay Thompson had 29 points and four rebounds. Nick Young added 17 points and six rebounds off the bench. Golden State outscored the Bulls a combined 81-34 in the second and third quarters. The Warriors were without Kevin Durant (sprained ankle) and Draymond Green (rest). Durant is questionable for tonight’s game.
New Orleans is 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Golden State. The over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.
The Warriors stomped on the hapless Bulls, but with Durant perhaps out again it makes this a much tougher matchup. The duo of Cousins and Davis were able to rest a lot in the second half at Phoenix and should be fresh for this one. As long as the Pelicans get some contributions on both ends of the floor from their role players, they should be able to stay within the large spread.
