76ers grab road win
Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead in the series with an impressive 131-115 win at Brooklyn on Thursday in Game 3, managing to win without Joel Embiid in the lineup. Philly is now 53-32 on the season, 21-21 on the road, 40-45 against the spread and 45-40 with the over.
With Embiid out, Ben Simmons really picked up the slack for Philadelphia. He had his best shooting performance in some time, going 11 of 13 from the field for 31 points with nine assists and three blocks. J.J. Redick also shot well, putting up 26 points while Tobias Harris was an amazing 6 of 6 from the arc for 29 points with 16 rebounds.
Nets struggle defensively again
Brooklyn had another poor showing defensively in Game 3, giving up 131 points after allowing 145 in Game 2. Brooklyn is now 43-42 on the season, 23-19 at home, 46-39 against the spread and 43-42 with the over.
The Nets didn’t have much defense in Game 3 and also shoot poorly from the outside, going just 8 of 39 from the arc. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 26 points but was just 2 of 9 from 3-point land. Caris LeVert continued to produce from the bench, adding 26 points and seven rebounds while Spencer Dinwiddie had 15 points off the bench as well.
NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six conference quarterfinal games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven following a win.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven against a team with a winning percentage over .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last five conference quarterfinal games.
Prediction:
The Nets have let me down the last two games, playing little to no defense. For that reason, I can’t trust them today. If Philadelphia is going to be able to score at will, there is little hope for the Nets to get back in this series. Philly didn’t even have its best player and still put up over 130 points in Game 3. Even if Embiid doesn’t play today, it seems clear that Philadelphia knows how to attack this Brooklyn defense.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -1.5
