76ers fall in opener
Philadelphia was out-gunned in Game 1 of the series on Saturday, falling 108-95. The 76ers weren’t able to compete with the Raptors for most of the game. Philly is now 55-33 on the season, 22-22 on the road, 42-46 against the spread and 45-43 with the over.
The 76ers really struggled offensively in Game 1. They were just 35 of 89 from the field, 11 of 32 from the arc and 14 of 21 from the free-throw line. Joel Embiid was not terribly impactful, posting just 16 points with eight rebounds on 5 of 18 shooting. Tobias Harris had 14 points with 15 rebounds and six assists while JJ Redick had 17 points to lead the team in scoring.
Raptors continue hot streak
The Toronto Raptors continued their hot streak in Game 1 of the series, winning their fifth straight overall while covering the spread in their third straight. Toronto is now 63-25 on the season, 35-10 at home, 42-46 against the spread and 45-40-3 with the over.
Toronto only shot 9 of 27 from the arc in the win, but the Raptors were 41 of 79 from the field, as they were able to get a lot of high-percentage shots. Kawhi Leonard had a dominant performance, as he scoring 45 points on 16 of 23 shooting while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Pascal Siakam continued to have a strong postseason by scoring 29 points on 12 of 15 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds.
NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven conference semifinal games, but 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Toronto
The Raptors are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points.
Prediction:
Philadelphia didn’t look good offensively in Game 1, but I expect that things will change tonight for Game 2. The 76ers have too much talent to be held under 100 points again. Philly has been good at bouncing back, especially when losing by double digits. Toronto isn’t likely to get as good of looks at the basket tonight. Philly will have to have an improved defensive effort and I expect them to hit some shots along the way. While the Raptors could win Game 2, I expect this game to come right down to the wire.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers +6.5
