Yahoo Sports reports that the deal is for one-year at the veteran’s minimum and is not guaranteed. Metta World Peace, otherwise known as Ron Artest, won a title with the Lakers in 2010.

MWP averaged 18.3 points along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 2003-04, the year before the Malice at the Palace changed everything for the troubled star.

“I’m excited for Metta to be rejoining the Lakers in this next chapter in his career,” agent David Bauman told Yahoo Sports. “Metta is looking forward to working with Kobe and the young players to help the Lakers now and in the future. Los Angeles and the Lakers have always held a special place in Metta’s heart.”

According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Lakers are 175/1 long shots to win the 2016 NBA Championship.
