Report: Thunder to open 2015-16 NBA season against Spurs

Report: Thunder to host Spurs in opener

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (The Spread) – Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman tweets that the Thunder will open their season at home against the Spurs.

According to Mayberry, the matchup will take place on Wednesday, October 28. It figures to be one of the more anticipated matchups of the 2015-16 NBA season.

Injuries to Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka took most of the luster out of the OKC-San Antonio series last year, as Durant missed all three games between the two teams. Ibaka, meanwhile, was healthy for just one of the meetings between the Thunder and Spurs, who met in the 2014 Western Conference Finals (won by San Antonio in six games).

The Spurs are still led by veterans Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, but the team will have a new look in 2015 thanks to the additions of LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green. Kawhi Leonard is also coming off a breakout season in which he averaged 16.5 points per game.
