Rockets add Josh Smith
HOUSTON, TX (TheSpread) – The Houston Rockets added another piece to their roster on Wednesday, signing recently-released Josh Smith to a contract.
Smith was let go by the Pistons this week despite being in just the second season of a four-year $54 million contract. The details of Smith’s agreement with the Rockets has yet to be released, but he will now be playing with one of his good friends, Dwight Howard.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Rockets now have 16/1 odds to win the NBA Finals. They currently have the eighth-shortest odds to win it all in the NBA. Cleveland is the favorite with 7/2 odds.
Smith is averaging 13.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season while also chipping in 4.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. Smith joins a Houston team that is currently 20-7 on the season, which is fourth-best in the Western Conference. The Rockets are 10-5 at home and 10-2 on the road while going 15-12 against the spread.
