According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the San Antonio Spurs are the slight favorite in the West, as they are getting odds of 5/2 to win. Other short odds to win are the Golden State Warriors (14/5), the Oklahoma City Thunder (7/2) and the Los Angeles Clippers (7/1).

The Spurs have won the Western Conference six times, last doing so in 2014. San Antonio lost in the first round of the playoffs last year, going 55-27 during the season. Tim Duncan is returning this year and the team added LaMarcus Aldridge in the offseason to add to an experienced and veteran roster.

The Warriors have won the Western Conference four times and are the defending NBA champions. They were also the Pacific Division champs last season, going 67-15. Golden State re-signed Draymond Green in the offseason and return all the key pieces to last year’s title run.

The Thunder have won the Western Conference one time, which was in 2012. The Thunder missed out on the playoffs last year, going 45-37. The Thunder hired Billy Donovan to be their new coach this year as they look to get a full season of health with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

The Clippers have never managed to win the Western Conference in franchise history. Los Angeles was 56-26 last season and reached the second round of the NBA playoffs before exiting. The Clippers return all their top players from last season, including DeAndre Jordan. The team also added Paul Pierce, Lance Stephenson and Josh Smith to the mix.
