Curry says free agency isn’t appealing
OAKLAND, CA (The Spread) – Warriors’ star and league MVP Stephen Curry told Sporting News that he isn’t interested in free agency after the 2016-17 NBA season.
“As I am thinking right now, free agency isn’t really appealing to me because I love where I’m at, love the organization I’m playing for, and the Bay Area is home for me and my family,” Curry said.
Curry can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2017 unless he and the Warriors come to an agreement on an extension. He’s currently playing on a four-year, $44 million deal that he signed in October of 2012 and is set to make $11.3 million this upcoming season. He’ll also make $12.1 million in 2016-17.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Warriors are 11/2 to repeat as NBA champions. The Cavs, meanwhile, are 5/2 favorites to win it all while the Spurs are 18/5.
