Phoenix Suns DFS Spin
Deandre Ayton made seven of his 11 shots from the field in Saturday’s 125-107 loss to Denver, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, and one assist in 30 minutes. Ayton may have shot better than 50% from the field in Game 1, but his impact was muted. Nikola Jokic grabbed 19 rebounds and dished out five assists for the winners, while Ayton failed to record a steal or blocked shot. Phoenix will need him to be a more active presence in the middle moving forward, with Game 2 set for Monday night. Chris Paul will also need to step up, as he accounted for 11 points, five assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.
Denver Nuggets DFS Spin
Nikola Jokic played 33 minutes in Saturday’s 125-107 win over the Suns, accumulating 24 points (9-of-21 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), 19 rebounds, five assists, and one 3-pointer. Jokic did most of his work in the paint during Game 1, with 19 of his 21 field goal attempts coming from that part of the court. He didn’t convert at a particularly high rate, but the two-time MVP made up for that by grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds. And Denver, which has struggled in the past when Jokic rests, pulled away during the second quarter when he was on the bench. With Jokic shooting 47.5% from the field during the Nuggets’ six-game series with the Timberwolves, one would assume that he won’t shoot as poorly as he did in Saturday’s Game 1. He’ll look to bounce back in Game 2 Monday night.
