Jazz trying to heat up again
Utah had a tremendous run early in the new year, but had a five-game losing streak late in the month and in early February. Now, Utah is riding back-to-back wins over the Blazers and Rockets, including a 114-113 win at Houston yesterday. The Jazz are 34-18 on the season, 15-13 on the road, 26-25-1 against the spread and 27-25 with the over.
The Jazz are putting up 111 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from the arc. Defensively, Utah is giving up 107.1 points per game while opponents are shooting 44.9 percent from the field. The Jazz are being led by Donovan Mitchell, who has 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest.
Mavs still without Luka
Dallas remains without its top player in Luka Doncic. They are coming off a 116-100 win at Charlotte on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak. Dallas is 32-21 on the season, 14-13 at home, 28-22-3 against the spread and 33-20 with the over.
The Mavericks are one of the top offenses in the league, shooting 116.1 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 110.2 points per game while opponents shoot 45.3 percent against them. Doncic continues to be out for Dallas due to his ankle injury. He averages 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per contest. Kristaps Porzingis is leading the team right now with 18.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 11-2-1 against the spread in their last 14 games following a cover, but just 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games.
Dallas
The Mavericks are 4-10-1 against the spread in their last 15 home games, but 11-5-2 ATS in their last 18 games as an underdog.
Prediction:
Utah earned a 112-107 win at home over Dallas back on Jan. 25. The Jazz finally managed to break through their slide last Friday thanks to a little help from the refs, but perhaps that is the break they needed. They were able to win at Houston last night and I think they can turnaround and win tonight on the road as well. Dallas is without Doncic and facing a good defensive team. Utah’s defense should give the Mavs some problems and Dallas doesn’t have the shooting to overcome that.
NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -1
