Milwaukee took Game 1 of the series on Saturday with a 97-83 victory as an 8-point underdog. The Bucks have won two straight over the Raptors, but Toronto is 3-2 overall and against the spread in five meetings with Milwaukee this season. Toronto is now 51-32 overall, 28-14 at home and 45-37-1 against the spread. Milwaukee is 43-40 overall, 20-22 on the road and 37-46 against the spread.
The Bucks used a big second half to get past the Raptors on Saturday. Milwaukee outscored Toronto 51-32 in the last two quarters of play. Toronto struggled to make shots, going to 27-of-75 from the field and 5-of-23 from 3-point land. The Bucks were 38-of-85 shooting in the win and 9-of-23 from 3-point land. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee in the win with 28points and eight rebounds. The Bucks got some nice bench contributions as Greg Monroe had 14 points and 15 rebounds.
I expected the Raptors to roll in Game 1. While Toronto didn’t shoot the ball well, Milwaukee proved that it has grown as a team and has a lot more scoring options than just the Greek Freak. The Bucks won’t be lacking in confidence today and that should allow them to keep this game competitive with the Raptors.
