Houston won Game 1 of the series on Sunday night, 118-87. The Rockets have won four straight meetings with the Thunder and they have covered in nine of their last 10 against OKC. The Rockets come into tonight’s game 56-27 overall, 31-11 at home and 43-40 against the spread. Oklahoma City is 47-36 overall, 19-23 on the road and 45-37-1 against the spread.
Game 1 saw the Rockets win almost every statistical category against the Thunder. Houston was 45-of-91 shooting from the field while taking a 56-41 rebounding advantage over OKC. James Harden had another big game, posting 37 points with seven rebounds and nine assists. Patrick Beverly was also key, putting up 21 points with 10 rebounds. The Thunder went just 30-of-81 shooting with Russell Westbrook going 6-of-23 from the field. He had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
Oklahoma City looked lost in Game 1 and I expect more of the same tonight. The Thunder don’t have any great scoring options outside of Westbrook and they can’t compete offensively with the Rockets. Houston is hard to stop at home, especially if the Rockets are getting offensive production from Beverly. Houston should continue to get high-percentage shots against this OKC defense and roll to a big win.
