Carmelo Anthony helped the Denver Nuggets keep up their strong play at home. Another lopsided loss at Sacramento ended the Utah Jazz’s longest winning streak in nearly nine years.
Anthony scored a career-high 49 points in a 111-100 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night, the Nuggets’ ninth win in their last 10 home games. Anthony made 19 of 25 shots from the field and all eight free throws in the NBA’s third-highest individual scoring game this season.
“I haven’t been in that zone in a long, long time,” Anthony said. “When I’m like that, I feel that anything I throw up is going to go in.”
Kevin Martin scored 27 points and Ron Artest had 22 points and eight rebounds as Sacramento ended Utah’s 10-game winning streak, 117-104. The Jazz lost for the 11th time in their last 14 trips to Arco Arena, and dropped to 16-3 overall since Dec. 2.

With Anthony swishing shots from all over the court, teammate Allen Iverson took just nine shots himself, making seven of them, and finished with 18 points.
“I was out there watching,” gushed Iverson, who will join Melo as an All-Star starter in New Orleans later this month.
Anthony made all three of his 3-pointers, including one with Dominic McGuire in his face in the final minute that gave him 47 points, two more than his previous career high set against Philadelphia on Dec. 27, 2005. After he sank two free throws with 49 seconds left, Anthony was double- and triple-teamed.
“I was definitely surprised by that. What for? Just to stop him from getting 50?” Iverson said. “I was happy for him, just to see him play like that. I never had a teammate score 49 points. This is one of the easiest games I ever played.”

Douby, averaging just under 12 minutes per game, made three 3-pointers and scored 12 of his season-high 15 points while playing the entire final period. Salmons had nine of his 13 points in the quarter to help the Kings win for the eighth time in their last 11 games.
Salmons made back-to-back driving layups and Douby had consecutive 3-pointers in a 10-4 run that put the Kings ahead 109-99 with 5:10 remaining.
“He (Douby) came in and hit some big shots and also put some pressure on us defensively,” Utah guard Deron Williams said. “It was a big night for him.”
Carlos Boozer had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Utah, which has not won 11 straight games since April 1999. Williams had 18 points and nine assists.
Celtics 88, Timberwolves 86
Leon Powe made a layup at the buzzer to lift Boston as an injured Kevin Garnett missed his sixth straight game and could only watch in his return to Minnesota.
Paul Pierce had 18 points and six assists and Ray Allen scored 17 for the Celtics. Al Jefferson scored 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter for the Timberwolves.
Lakers 117, Magic 113

Dwight Howard led the Magic with 19 points and 11 rebounds, but played only 29 minutes because of foul trouble.

Chris Bosh had 29 points and 12 rebounds but fouled out with 12 seconds left as Toronto lost back-to-back home games for the first time since Jan. 6.
Nets 104, Bobcats 90
Jason Kidd had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists for his league-best 12th triple-double, his first since demanding a trade, and Richard Jefferson scored 23 points to lead visiting New Jersey.
Gerald Wallace had 21 points for Charlotte, which has lost five straight.
Spurs 99, Knicks 93, OT
Michael Finley made the tying 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in regulation and San Antonio dominated overtime as host New York matched a season high with its eighth straight loss.
Tim Duncan had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs, who trailed by 18 points in the third quarter, but scored the first seven points in OT.
Jamal Crawford had 24 points for the Knicks.
Suns 103, SuperSonics 99
a timeout when visiting Seattle had none remaining with 15.1 seconds to play, allowing Phoenix to pull out a victory.
The Suns went 32-of-32 at the foul line, one shy of the franchise record, including three in a row by Steve Nash at the end.
Amare Stoudemire scored 33 points, including 15-of-15 at the line, to lead the Suns, who have yet to be joined by newly acquired Shaquille O’Neal.
Pistons 91, Trail Blazers 82
Chauncey Billups scored all 17 of his points in the first quarter and host Detroit took advantage of Brandon Roy’s absence and beat Portland for its seventh straight victory.
Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge led all scorers with 22 points.
Cavaliers 100, Hawks 95
LeBron James scored 26 points, Ira Newble added a season-best 18 and short-handed Cleveland won at Atlanta despite missing four of its top seven scorers.
James also had 11 rebounds and seven assists. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 23 points, and Marvin Williams added 21.
Mavericks 92, Grizzlies 81
Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points while also getting some rest and a lot of help as Dallas handed Memphis is seventh straight road loss. Nowitzki was 7-of-10 from the field, made all seven free throws and had six rebounds.
Rudy Gay led Memphis with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
