CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Bobcats leading scorer Gerald Wallace was cleared to play Friday against the New Jersey Nets after missing two games with a strained right foot.
Charlotte is still expected to be without guards Jeff McInnis (sickness), Matt Carroll (ankle) and Derek Anderson (knee), leaving only nine healthy players.
Wallace, who was injured Feb. 1 at Golden State, went through Friday’s shootaround without incident, said trainer Joe Sharpe. Wallace returned to practice Wednesday, but he had swelling in his foot that night and did not practice Thursday.
Wallace is averaging 21.2 points for the Bobcats, who have lost four straight.
McInnis, who became ill on Thursday, did not participate in the shootaround. Carroll, who has tendinitis in his right ankle, and Anderson, who has a bruised right knee, were also ruled out.
The Bobcats were planning to recall rookie forward Jermareo Davidson from the NBA Development League. Davidson is averaging 18 points and 9.8 rebounds in six games with Sioux Falls. He had 23 points and 15 rebounds in a loss at Iowa on Thursday.
coach Lawrence Frank said before Friday’s shootaround that he was considering starting forward Nenad Krstic against Charlotte. But Krstic will be limited to between 15 minutes and 17 minutes as he works his way back from left knee surgery.
