LOS ANGELES (AP) -Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony was helped off the court midway through the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a sprained left ankle.
The team said Anthony, the NBA’s fourth-leading scorer with a 25.8-point average, was taken to the locker room to have his ankle X-rayed.
Anthony made a jump shot with 5:58 left before halftime before landing on Kobe Bryant’s right foot. Anthony dropped to the floor, grabbing his ankle in pain.
Anthony had 13 points and four rebounds before being injured. He left with the Lakers leading the Nuggets 57-44.
