MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson was scratched from the game against Minnesota on Tuesday night after sustaining what the team called a “slight concussion” in practice.
Nelson was hit in the head by an errant elbow during practice on Monday in Washington, and still had some headaches on Tuesday, so coach Stan Van Gundy decided to give him the night off. The third-year pro is averaging 11.3 points and 5.0 assists this season and is listed as day to day.
Carlos Arroyo started in Nelson’s place.
The Magic were also without guard J.J. Redick, who missed the game because of back spasms.
