In a rare instance of double triple-doubles, Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors got the better of Caron Butler and the Washington Wizards. Davis had 33 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds and Golden State beat Washington 123-115 on Friday night, ending the Wizards’ six-game winning streak. Butler finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Davis and Butler are the first pair of NBA opponents with triple-doubles in the same game in more than 4 1/2 years. Orlando’s Tracy McGrady and New Jersey’s Jason Kidd did it on Feb. 23, 2003.

Amare Stoudemire scored 13 of his season-high 29 points in the decisive third quarter, and the Phoenix Suns matched the best start to a season in franchise history by beating the Los Angeles Clippers 113-94 on Friday night. Shawn Marion added 21 points, 17 rebounds and five steals as the Suns won their eighth in a row. Their 11-2 start matches the franchise record set in 1980-81 and equaled in 2004-05. They can break the record with a victory at Golden State on Monday.
STEADY AND EFFICIENT
Dwight Howard had 34 points and 17 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic overcome a poor shooting night and beat the Charlotte Bobcats 105-92 Friday. Howard made 11 of 14 shots, while his teammates were a combined 27-for-66 from the field, including 7-for-28 from 3-point range.
