Chicago stayed perfect this season against Detroit, using a strong fourth-quarter defensive effort to beat the Pistons 97-81 on Saturday. The Bulls outscored the Pistons 26-14 in the final period, improving to 3-0 this season against the team that eliminated them in the Eastern Conference semifinals last spring.
SONICS SKID
Dallas beat Seattle 111-96 on Saturday to hand the reeling SuperSonics their 10th straight loss. Seattle, which last won Dec. 29 against Minnesota, matched a single-season franchise record with the loss. The Sonics (9-31) last dropped 10 in a row Dec. 12-29, 1968.
ROAD WOES
Minnesota fell to Denver 111-108 on Saturday and dropped to 1-20 on the road this season. The Timberwolves have lost 16 straight on the road since a win at New Orleans on Nov. 26.
STRUGGLING CHAMPS
Tim Duncan had 24 points and 17 rebounds but San Antonio fell to Houston 83-81 on Saturday, its fourth loss in six games. The Spurs lost in Houston for the second time in six visits.
TWICE AS NICE
Dwight Howard posted his league-leading 37th double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds in Orlando’s 101-94 victory over Portland on Saturday. … Al Jefferson had 20 points and 16 rebounds in Minnesota’s 111-108 loss to Denver. It was Jefferson’s 29th double-double of the season. He trails only Howard in that category.

Gerald Wallace had 28 points to help Charlotte beat Memphis 105-87 on Saturday, the Bobcats’ first ever win over the Grizzlies.
STRONG IN DEFEAT
Pau Gasol had 28 points in Memphis’ 105-87 loss to Charlotte on Saturday, its sixth loss in seven games and fourth straight on the road. … Danny Granger led the Pacers with 26 points, Kareem Rush tied a season high with 22, and Jamaal Tinsley had 13 assists but Indiana fell to Sacramento 110-104.
