LeBron James shot just 4-of-16 from the field and finished with 14 points against San Antonio, in Cleveland’s 85-76 loss on Thursday night. James, began 0-for-8 from the field, and finally got his first basket with 7:15 left in the third quarter.

San Antonio beat Cleveland 85-76 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. The Cavaliers are now 0-13 on the road in opening playoff games.
MAGIC’S MAN
Stan Van Gundy was hired Thursday as coach of the Orlando Magic, who acted quickly after their agreement with Billy Donovan collapsed. Van Gundy coached the Miami Heat for more than two seasons, resigning last year but remaining with the team as an adviser to coach Pat Riley. He also was being courted by the Sacramento Kings. Van Gundy resigned as the Heat’s coach 21 games into the 2005-06 season. Riley took over and the Heat went on to win the franchise’s first championship. Van Gundy was 112-73 at Miami.
HIRED
The Seattle SuperSonics hired Sam Presti as their general manager on Thursday. The 30-year-old San Antonio assistant general manager replaces Rick Sund, who was demoted to consultant after Seattle’s 31-51 season.
