WASHINGTON (AP) -Orlando Magic center Darko Milicic sprained his right ankle in the second quarter Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards and could miss the start of the playoffs.
Milicic was hurt when his right leg was sandwiched between Wizards players DeShawn Stevenson and Brendan Haywood as the three players fought for a rebound. He’ll have an MRI exam on Wednesday.
“It’s a bad sprain,” said Milicic, whose ankle was in a protective boot as he left the arena on crutches. “It hurts really bad, but we’ll see what the MRI shows.”
Milicic will miss Orlando’s regular-season finale Wednesday against Miami. He is questionable for the Magic’s first playoff game this weekend.
“We’ll see how he is when we get him home,” coach Brian Hill said.
Milicic is averaging 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds this season.
