MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Jerry Stackhouse and Erick Dampier missed the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday with injuries.
Stackhouse missed his second straight game with a sprained right thumb and Dampier was also out for the second game in a row with a left knee injury. Both will be reevaluated on Monday
Mavericks coach Avery Johnson said Dampier tried to do a few things in practice this week, but struggled even to get moving because of the sore knee. If things don’t progress on Monday, Johnson said Dampier would have an MRI exam.
“He didn’t respond well after that game against Golden State,” Johnson said. “The swelling was there. He was limping pretty badly and he couldn’t practice.”
Stackhouse was fitted with a soft cast and continues to be listed as day-to-day.
“Some swelling went down, but his thumb didn’t look good,” Johnson said.
To help fill the void, the Mavericks called up Maurice Ager from Tulsa of the D-League. Ager has been down since Dec. 17, where he averaged 16.3 points in seven games.
“He was pretty solid down there,” Johnson said. “With Damp and Stack not being healthy, we needed to get him back.”
