CLEVELAND (AP) – With LeBron James playing cautiously on a sprained left ankle, Drew Gooden scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half for Cleveland, which took a 2-0 lead in the first-round series.
The Wizards made it interesting in the final minute. They closed within 105-102 on a 3-pointer by Jarvis Hayes with 18 seconds left. Larry Hughes, who had 19 points, then made four free throws for Cleveland.
Game 3 is Saturday in Washington.
James, who twisted his ankle in Game 1, had 27 points, eight rebounds and seven assists – roughly his average this season. When the Wizards trimmed a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter to six, James took control. He scored 13 points in the final period, including nine in the final 5:14.
Antawn Jamison had 31 points for the Wizards, who are without injured All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler. Antonio Daniels, who had 11 points, was the only other Washington starter in double figures.

DALLAS (AP) – Jason Terry scored 28 points, Dirk Nowitzki had 23 and Josh Howard led a 15-2 run in the third quarter that sent Dallas to the Game 2 victory that evened the first-round series.
Golden State’s Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson were both ejected in the second half after receiving their second technical fouls of the game.
Dallas had lost six straight to Golden State dating to last season and including a 12-point loss at home in Game 1.
Jackson led the Warriors with 30 points, but also had eight turnovers. Davis had 13 points, two assists and one rebound; he had 33 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in Golden State’s victory in the opener.
Dallas was leading when Terry dribbled into Jackson, drawing a foul, then kept going into Davis. All three wound up with a technical foul.
Davis got another tech for arguing about a foul with 0.2 seconds left in the third quarter. He was smiling and clapping at the time, although coach Don Nelson was warning him to cool it.
The Mavs were well ahead when Jackson got his second technical with 4:34 to play.
The series shifts to Oakland for Game 3 on Friday night.
