WASHINGTON (AP) -Nick Young and Oleksiy Pecherov signed contracts with the Washington Wizards on Thursday, giving the team its first-round picks from the past two NBA drafts.
Young signed a two-year deal that will guarantee him nearly $3 million, and Pecherov, the 18th overall pick in 2006, signed a two-year deal that ensures him nearly $2.7 million. The Wizards hold options for two additional years on Pecherov.
Young, a 6-foot-7 guard-forward, was the 16th overall pick in last week’s draft out of Southern California. Pecherov, a 7-foot center, played last season in his native Ukraine.
“Both have good size, athleticism and the ability to score,” Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said. “They are hardworking and competitive young players.”
