Wednesday’s ACC Predictions
Wednesday’s ACC Basketball schedule features some intriguing betting matchups, including games with Duke and Clemson. Here’s our pick for the feature contests.
No. 11 Clemson at Florida State, 7PM ET (ACC Network)
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Florida State actually finds itself as the favorite in this game, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -4.5 points against Clemson. FSU has had some good history with Clemson, winning the last three meetings while going 2-0-1 against the spread. The Tigers have dropped three of their last four on the road while FSU has covered in three of its last four at home, the lone loss coming against Virginia by four points. The Seminoles are putting up nearly 90 points per game at home and I don’t see Clemson being able to match that scoring output. ACC PREDICTIONS: FLORIDA STATE -4.5
Bet on Clemson vs. Florida State
Virginia Tech at No. 12 Duke, 7PM ET (ESPN2)
Virginia Tech is coming off a big upset win at Virginia last weekend and the Hokies now find themselves as an 11.5-point road underdog against Duke. While the Blue Devils have won nine of the last 10 in this series, the Hokies have covered in three of the last four meetings. While a letdown could be a concern, Tech is playing its best right now and has won three straight road games. Duke has failed to cover in three of its last five overall and two of its last three at home. The Hokies have the offensive weapons to keep this game competitive. I will take the points. ACC PREDICTIONS: VIRGINIA TECH +11.5
N.C. State at Syracuse, 9PM ET (ACC Network)
Two .500 ACC teams both need a win tonight. Oddsmakers have Syracuse favored in this game, as the Orange are getting odds of -5.5 points against N.C. State. The Wolfpack have been inconsistent this year, but have been a team that can show flashes of being a contender. Syracuse has pretty much established itself as a middle-of-the-road team. The Orange struggle against the better teams in the ACC and N.C. State definitely has the better talent here. While the Cuse have a good defense, N.C. State can shoot past it. The Wolfpack have won two of their last three on the road, including a victory at North Carolina. The public betting is split on this game, but I will take the points. ACC PREDICTIONS: N.C. STATE +5.5
