Friday’s ACC Predictions
The ACC Tournament has a pair of intriguing semifinal matchups on Friday, March 9, 2018. Here’s our predictions for the two games taking place.
865 Clemson +8 vs. 866 Virginia, 7PM ET (ESPN2)
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Virginia is a big favorite again today, giving up 8 points to Clemson. UVA has won seven straight meetings with Clemson, covering the spread in the last three as well. That includes a 61-36 win at home back on Jan. 23. The Cavs held the Tigers to 15 of 47 shooting. Clemson is coming off a grind-it-out win over Boston College on Thursday, but have struggled with good defensive teams lately. They lost last week at Syracuse when they were held to 52 points on 45 shots. Virginia should keep the shots limited again tonight, which will lead it to another win and cover. 867 North Carolina +4 vs. 868 Duke, 9PM ET (ESPN)
The biggest rivalry in college basketball gets a third chapter for the 2017-18 season tonight. Oddsmakers have Duke as a 4-point favorite against the Heels. These two split the season series, with the home team get the nod in both cases. The Tar Heels held a 10-point halftime lead at Duke, but were outscored 49-29. UNC started slow last night against Miami as well and Roy Williams benched his entire starting lineup. The Heels eventually went on to win and cover in that game. I think UNC wants this game after the way the last meeting finished. UNC has played three good halves against Duke and had one really bad one. They will be ready to put that half behind them tonight against a Duke team is just 3-3 against the spread in its last six away from home. ACC PREDICTIONS: 867 NORTH CAROLINA +4
