ACC Tournament Predictions: Will there be more upsets on Thursday? 3/8/18

ACC Predictions: Will Virginia cover vs. Notre Dame? 3/3/18 ACC Predictions: Will Virginia cover vs. Notre Dame? 3/3/18

Thursday’s ACC Predictions

The ACC Tournament moves on the to the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Here’s our picks for today’s four contests.

661 Louisville +7.5 vs. 662 Virginia, Noon ET (ESPN)

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Virginia is the clear favorite in this one, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -7.5 points against Louisville. Virginia won both meetings this season, but Louisville managed to cover in each situation. The Cardinals picked up an 82-74 win over Florida State on Wednesday, but UVA is a much stronger challenge, especially on defense. UVA had a close call with the Cardinals last week and the upsets we’ve seen in this tournament already should have the Cavs coming in focused. With their lockdown defense, I see them handling Louisville today. ACC PREDICTIONS: 662 VIRGINIA -7.5

Bet on ACC for Thursday, March 8, 2018

663 Boston College +4 vs. 664 Clemson, 2PM ET (ESPN)

Boston College has won two games in the ACC Tournament for the first time and now faces a Clemson team that is fresh. Oddsmakers are listing the Tigers as a 4-point favorite in this game. While Clemson is fresh, BC has a lot of momentum with it right now. The Eagles have covered in four of their last five and they covered in their only meeting with Clemson this season. I see the Eagles coming out fast while the Tigers get their legs under them. I will take a chance on BC covering today and possibly pulling off another upset. ACC PREDICTIONS: 663 BOSTON COLLEGE +4

Matchup histories for Thursday, March 8, 2018

665 Notre Dame +7 vs. 666 Duke, 7PM ET (ESPN)

Oddsmakers see Duke as the favorite in this one, with the Blue Devils getting odds of -7 points. This is a tough draw for the Blue Devils, opening with a healed-up Irish team that may have been able to contend in the ACC this season if not for the injuries. ND had to storm back from a big deficit last night to beat Virginia Tech, but the Irish have won four of their last five and look like a new team. I think they will be up for this challenge against Duke, especially with a few games under their belts. Duke has been playing well, but I think they are giving up too many points to a surging Irish team tonight. ACC PREDICTIONS: 665 NOTRE DAME +7

Who is the public betting on tonight?

667 North Carolina -6 vs. 668 Miami, 9PM ET (ESPN)

The featured matchup tonight has a pair of ranked teams with the Tar Heels as a 6-point favorite against Miami. The Hurricanes won at UNC just a few weeks ago, 91-88. Miami comes into this tournament playing well, having won four straight. UNC has dropped two of its last three, but picked up a 19-point win over Syracuse last night. The Heels have the ability to win and cover, but it’s hard to trust them. Miami is playing well and should have confidence after winning at UNC already. I think this game will be competitive as Miami should show an improved defensive effort against the Heels. ACC PREDICTIONS: 668 MIAMI +6
