Alabama Game Notes
Alabama forward Noah Clowney is questionable for Saturday’s tilt with Auburn. He’s dealing with a facial injury. Clowney is third on the club in scoring with 10 points per game and second in rebounding with 8.1 per game. If he can’t play, that may loom large over this game.
The Crimson Tide’s best player is fantastic freshman forward Brandon Miller. The 6’9” Antioch, Tennessee native leads the SEC in scoring with 19 points per game and ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding with 8.3 per game. Miller has been deadly from the outside this season as he’s shooting 44.4% from deep on 7.1 attempts per game.
Auburn Game Notes
Auburn senior forward Jaylin Williams is one of the Tigers’ most important players. Williams is doing a bit of everything for Auburn this season as he’s recorded 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1 block per game. He’s also shooting a respectable 36.6% from beyond the arc this year.
Auburn will need their leading scorer Wendell Green Jr. to step up Saturday. The 5’11” junior guard from Detroit is averaging 13.9 points per game this season on 37.8% shooting from the field. He’s scored at least 14 points in 8 of the Tigers’ last 10 games and Auburn may need him to hit that number again if they’re going to cover on Saturday.

Alabama vs. Auburn CBB Prediction:
Auburn has been a different team when playing at home this season. The Tigers are 11-1 at Neville Arena this year. They are only 4-5 on the road. The Tigers really need this game to keep pace with the Crimson Tide in the SEC race. Auburn is 7-4 in conference play while Alabama is currently 11-0.
The chances of Alabama running the slate and going undefeated in SEC play are very slim, in my opinion. They have 7 conference games remaining and I think they’ll catch a couple of losses before the season is through. This is going to be one of them. Alabama wants to play fast as they’re #1 in adjusted tempo according to Kenpom.com. The problem with that is that Auburn is 144th in tempo. They want to slow the game down and make it a grind-it-out affair. I think the Tigers will be able to do that, and I think they eke out a hard-fought win at home over their in-state rival.
