Wednesday’s Big 12 Predictions
There are three games on the conference slate tonight. Here’s our Big 12 Predictions for Wednesday’s contests.
No. 6 Texas Tech at Oklahoma State, 7PM ET (ESPNU)
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Texas Tech is the road favorite in this game, as the Red Raiders are getting odds of -4 points at Oklahoma State. The Big 12 has been a tough conference to pick, as unexpected upsets happen regularly. Texas Tech picked up a 75-70 win over the Cowboys on Jan. 23 in Lubbock, but Oklahoma State has covered in three straight in the series. The Cowboys own some strange wins, beating West Virginia and Kansas on the road, but they haven’t won at home in a month. They are just 5-8 against the spread on their home floor this season. I think the Tech defense will be the defense, as they get stops that Oklahoma State doesn’t regularly. I am taking my chances on the Raiders. BIG 12 PREDICTIONS: TEXAS TECH -4
Bet on Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State
TCU at Iowa State, 8PM ET
TCU is a road favorite tonight, as the Horned Frogs are getting odds of -6 points against the Cyclones. TCU picked up a 23-point win at home over Iowa State back on Jan. 17, but the Horned Frogs are just 2-6 on the road this season. Regardless of Iowa State’s struggles, it’s hard to give up that many points for a team that can’t win on the road consistently. Iowa State has managed to win at home over Oklahoma, West Virginia and Texas Tech. It also covered at home against Kansas. I think the Cyclones will be able to cover at home tonight as well. BIG 12 PREDICTIONS: IOWA STATE +6
TCU vs. Iowa State Series History
Texas at Kansas State, 9PM ET (ESPNU)
Kansas State finds itself as a 3-point favorite at home tonight against the Longhorns. The Wildcats are quietly putting themselves in the Big 12 mix at 8-6 and could use a win at home tonight to really strengthen their conference tournament seeding. Kansas State picked up a 3-point win at Texas two weeks ago and has won three straight in this series, strangely all by 3 points. The Kansas State defense is allowing just 62.7 points per game at home and I think that will guide them to the win tonight. Texas is an offense that can go cold for long stretches and the Longhorns don’t have a strong enough defense to make up for it. BIG 12 PREDICTIONS: KANSAS STATE -3
