Bridges staying, MSU now favored

With the announcement of Miles Bridges returning to Michigan State next season, the Spartans have now emerged as the favorite to win the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Michigan State is now an 8/1 favorite to win the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky is listed at 11/1 while North Carolina, Duke and Louisville each have 12/1 odds.

Last week, Bridges joined his family and teammates on the campus of MSU to announce that he would be coming back for his sophomore season. Bridges was expected to be a high lottery pick had he chosen to enter the NBA Draft, but has voiced in the past that he is really enjoying his experience with the Spartans.

In his freshman season with the Spartans, Bridges averaged 16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Bridges shot 48.6 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from the 3-point line. In his two NCAA Tournament games this season, Bridges had 40 points, 17 rebounds and five assists.

With Bridges returning to Michigan State this season, he will join his three fellow sophomores in Cassius Winston, Joshua Langford and Nick Ward. Those four produced a lot for the Spartans in their first year and started to piece things together late in the year. They will be joined by Jaren Jackson a 5-star recruit that is committed to the Spartans.
