West Virginia vs. Baylor Pick

Which team will pick up a win in a major Big 12 clash tonight when No. 9 Baylor hosts No. 12 West Virginia at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, this game is considered even, as neither team is being given a point. The over/under total for the game is listed at 138.5 points. WVU has won and covered the spread in three straight against Baylor, including an 89-68 win at home on Jan. 10.

West Virginia is coming off a 61-60 win at TCU this weekend for its third straight victory. The Mountaineers are now 23-6 on the season and 11-5 in the Big 12. WVU is 12-11-1 against the spread on the season but has failed to cover in its last three games. The Mountaineers are averaging 84.5 points per game on offense this season while allowing 66.4 points per game on defense. On the road, the offensive average falls to 74.4 points per game. Jevon Carter is averaging 12.7 points and 4.1 assists per game to lead the team while Esa Ahmad is adding 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. Ahmad is dealing with a lower back injury and is questionable to play tonight.

Baylor is coming off a 72-69 loss at Iowa State for its third loss in four games. The Bears are now 23-6 on the season and 10-6 in the Big 12. They have failed to cover in their last four games to dip to 12-12 against the spread on the season. However, the Bears are just 4-8 ATS at home. Baylor is putting up 71.8 points per game this season and giving up 62.8 on defense. At home, the defensive average is just 58.9 points per contest. Johnathan Motley is averaging 17.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game to lead the team while Manu Lecomte is adding 12.4 points and 4 assists per contest.

Bet on West Virginia vs. Baylor

Baylor has been able to defend well at home, holding opponents to just 28.2 percent from 3-point land and 38 percent from the field. WVU relies on its offense, but with Ahmad injured, that causes a problem. WVU really struggled at TCU, and arguably shouldn’t have won. I see similar problems tonight against a good defensive team in Baylor.
