Bluejays hope for rebound this afternoon
With road tests against Villanova and Marquette looming before the Big East tourney, Creighton’s path to a top NCAA seed suddenly seems fraught with danger. First, though, the 20th-ranked squad in the country must attend to an equally important home matinee.
The Bluejays (21-5) will take on conference rival Georgetown today, with a 3:30 p.m. ET tip in Nebraska. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives Greg McDermott’s odds of -300 to emerge victorious. The Hoyas, on the other hand, enter the CenturyLink Center as +245 underdogs.
Nearly a month ago, Creighton dropped a 71-51 decision to John Thompson III’s troops. The drubbing set in motion a slump from which the Bluejays still haven’t recovered. At the beginning of the week, Seton Hall notched an 87-81 win over Marcus Foster & Co. The Pirates shot 51 percent from the field, while Omaha’s finest committed 11 turnovers.
Considering the Hoyas’ inactivity of late, though, it may be unwise to expect them to establish a tone early. Georgetown (14-12) hasn’t suited up since Feb. 11. Three wins away from the nation’s capital – at Butler, Oregon and Syracuse – highlight an otherwise pedestrian campaign so far.

As per usual, Foster must come up big for the hosts. The Kansas State transfer averages a team-leading 18.0 points along with 2.7 rebounds. Nevertheless, we expect Georgetown’s mighty duo of Rodney Pryor and L.J. Peak to ultimately make things awfully interesting.
