Clemson vs. Virginia Tech Pick

Which ACC team will be able to pick up a needed win tonight as Virginia Tech hosts Clemson at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Virginia Tech is slightly favored at home, as the Hokies are getting odds of -2.5 points against Clemson. The over/under total for the game is listed at 149.5 points. Virginia Tech won the first meeting at Clemson, 82-81, back on Jan. 22. The Hokies have covered the spread in six of their last eight meetings with Clemson.

Bet on Clemson vs. Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is coming off a 94-90 loss at Louisville last week. The Hokies are now 18-8 on the season and 7-7 in the ACC. Tech has covered the spread in four straight to get to 12-10 against the spread on the season. The Hokies average 79.1 points per game on offense while allowing 73.9 on defense. At home, Tech puts up 84.2 points per game on offense while allowing just 70.6 on defense. Zach LeDay is leading the team with 15.3 points and 7 rebounds per game while Seth Allen is adding 13 points per contest.

Clemson has lost four of its last five games to fall to 14-12 on the season and 4-10 in the ACC. The Tigers are 11-13 against the spread this season as well. Clemson averages 74.9 points per game on offense while allowing 71.5 on defense. When on the road, Clemson’s offensive average drops down to 64.8 per game while the defense allows 70.6 per contest. Jaron Blossomgame is averaging 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game to lead the team while Avry Holmes is adding 11.2 points per contest.

This spread is odd, as Virginia Tech seems like it should be more than a 2.5-point favorite. Clemson is struggling, while the Hokies have been quite competitive for the last few weeks. They have won their last three at home, though the games have been close. The Tigers lost by six at Miami and lost by 48 at Florida State. Usually when the spread looks odd, you are supposed to go with the odd number, but I am sticking with my gut and taking the Hokies at home minus the points.
