West Virginia is coming off an 83-74 OT win over Texas Tech at home this weekend. The Mountaineers are now 21-6 on the season and 9-5 in the Big 12. WVU has a high-powered offense that averages 85.6 points per game while the defense is giving up just 66.8 per contest. When at home, WVU is putting up 90.4 points per game. WVU has great balance as well, with five players averaging 9 points or more this season. Jevon Carter is leading the way with 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest while Esa Ahmad is putting up 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Texas has been struggling, losing three straight to fall to 10-17 on the season and just 4-10 in the Big 12. The Longhorns haven’t covered in any of the three losses either. Texas is 14-12 against the spread on the season. Texas averages just 68.6 points per game on offense this year while allowing 69 on defense. When on the road, Texas puts up just 63.3 points per contest. Tevin Mack was leading the team with 14.8 points per game this season, but he was suspended about a month ago and the wheels have fallen off a bit since. Jarrett Allen is now the team leader with 13.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Texas is in a funk, but the Longhorns have still been competitive. They lost by four at Oklahoma, two at Georgia and haven’t lost by more than 15 points in a true road game this season. While the Longhorns don’t have the same talent, they still play hard and I think they will keep this game within reason.
