Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Pick

Back at home, will No. 16 Virginia cruise to a sizable win when it takes on Georgia Tech today at 2PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Virginia is favored at home, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -17.5 points against Georgia Tech. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 117.5 points. Virginia has won and covered the spread in four of its last five meetings with Georgia Tech.

Bet on Georgia Tech vs. Virginia

Virginia has won three straight coming into today to get to 14-3 on the season and 4-2 in the ACC. The Cavs have covered the spread in the three wins as well, and are now 10-5 against the spread. Virginia has a dominant defense that allows just 53.5 points per game. They are holding opponents to just 38 percent shooting as well. At home, UVA is giving up just 49.4 points per game. Offensively, Virginia averages 70 points per contest. London Perrantes is averaging 11.8 points and 4.1 assists per game to lead the team while Marial Shayok is adding 9.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Georgia Tech is coming off a tough 61-62 loss at Virginia Tech to snap a two-game winning streak. The Yellow Jackets are 11-7 overall and 3-3 in the ACC this season. They have covered the spread in three straight to get to 7-7 against the spread this year. Tech doesn’t have a terrible defense, as it allows just 67.7 points per game, but the offense only puts up 67.8 points per contest. When on the road, Tech’s defense struggles, allowing 78.2 points per contest. Ben Lammers is averaging 14.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game to lead Tech while Josh Okogie is averaging 14.6 points per contest.

I typically don’t like picking a defensive team that is giving up so many points. However, Virginia’s defense is so strong, especially at home, that the Cavs won’t have to put up a big number to cover. Virginia should be able to stop this pedestrian Georgia Tech offense and take advantage of some holes in the Yellow Jackets’ defense to cover with ease.
