Pittsburgh vs. Virginia Pick

Has No. 23 Virginia gotten over its recent struggles enough to pick them to cover over Pittsburgh today at Noon ET? Here’s our thoughts.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Virginia is the clear favorite in this game, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -12 points against Pittsburgh. The over/under total for the game is listed at 121.5 points. Pitt owns an 88-76 OT win over Virginia at home back on Jan. 4.

After losing four straight, Virginia had finally bounced back, winning back-to-back games, including a dominant 53-43 over North Carolina at home on Monday. The Cavaliers are now 20-9 overall and 10-7 in the ACC while putting up a 16-11 record against the spread. UVA averages 66.6 points per game on offense this season while allowing just 55.3 on defense. When at home, the Cavs are holding opponents to only 50.6 points per game. London Perrantes has been leading the team with 12.4 points and 3.9 assists per game while Isaiah Wilkins adds 7.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Pitt has dropped three straight coming into today’s game to fall to 15-15 on the season and just 4-13 in the ACC. The Panthers are actually 6-3 ATS in their last nine to move to 12-15-2 against the spread on the season. Pitt is scoring 74.6 points per game on offense this season while giving up 75.4 on defense. When on the road, the offense averages just 69.9 points per game. Michael Young has been leading the team with 20.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while Jamel Artis adds 18.9 points per contest.

Bet on Pittsburgh vs. Virginia

Is Virginia really back? The Cavs certainly looked good against UNC, but I am weary of them giving up 12 points when they score so few per game. I think the defense should be able to hold Pitt in check for the most part, but you can’t count on UVA to put up a big offensive number. Still, Pitt has been held under 60 points in their last two road games, so I think UVA may be able to hold them under 50. Roll the dice on UVA to continue its hot streak.
