CBB Predictions: Will Florida State cover on the road vs. Georgia Tech?

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Pick

No. 6 Florida State looks to avoid a similar letdown that impacted many top teams on Tuesday when the Seminoles hit the road to face Georgia Tech tonight at 7PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Florida State is favored on the road, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -9 points against Georgia Tech. The over/under total for the game is listed at 141.5 points. Florida State has won nine of the last 10 in this series, covering the spread in five of the last six as well.

FSU has won two straight since a 96-83 loss at North Carolina. The Seminoles are now 18-2 overall and 6-1 in the ACC. FSU is 0-2-1 against the spread in their last three and now 11-6-1 against the spread for the season. The Seminoles rely on their high-powered offense that averages 85.6 points per game on the season while the defense allows just 70.8 per game. However, on the road those numbers change a great deal. On the road, FSU is averaging just 71.5 points on offense and allowing 77 on defense. Dwayne Bacon is leading the team with 17.4 points per game. Jonathan Isaac is adding 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.

Bet on Florida State vs. Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech has lost back-to-back road games to fall to 11-8 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. However, the Yellow Jackets have covered the spread in four straight to get to 8-7 ATS on the season. Tech doesn’t have much of an offense, averaging just 66.8 points per game. The Jackets do have a respectable defense, though, allowing only 67.4 points per game. When at home, Tech is holding opponents to just 62.5 per game. Josh Ogokie is the leading scorer at 14.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while Ben Lammers is adding 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest.

After all of the big upsets yesterday, I don’t feel great about picking a road team, but I think the Seminoles will find a way to pull this cover off. FSU has played a rough schedule over the last few weeks and will be looking forward to the chance of not having to grind out a win. Tech can’t compete with FSU on offense. While Tech has a good defense, FSU’s offensive talent will be too much for even it to stop.
