Villanova (21-8) and Notre Dame (23-9) are two teams going in opposite directions as the Wildcats have lost seven of their past 12 games, while the Fighting Irish are winners of nine of their past 10. The two squads will face off with one another in South Bend Monday night at 7:00PM EST on ESPN.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Notre Dame 4.5-point favorites in the matchup. According to the latest trends, Villanova is 2-0 against the spread versus Notre Dame over the last three seasons. Both contests have gone under the total. Notre Dame is 25-14 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record over the last two seasons.
Villanova’s last two losses have come at home to a pair of ranked Big East foes in St. John’s and Syracuse. Notre Dame has won its last two including Saturday’s 60-48 home win over Seton Hall.
Ben Hansbrough leads the Fighting Irish with an 18.0 scoring average, while teammate Tim Abromaitis puts in 14.9 per game. Corey Fisher paces the Wildcats with a 15.5 points per game average, but he has been held to a total of 10 points in the last two losses.
The second half of the ESPN Monday night doubleheaders pairs Kansas State and host Texas. The Longhorns are 9-point favorites in the game.
