It is a common theme in the Big 10 Conference that it is very difficult to win on an opponent’s home floor and Wisconsin (14-4) might know that as well as anyone. The Badgers have won all four of their conference home games thus far, but have dropped both of the road ones to Michigan State and Illinois. Overall, Wisconsin is just 1-4 on the road this season.
The Badgers will get another opportunity at it Sunday at Northwestern with a 12:30PM EST tipoff. Northwestern (13-5) is 9-1 at home and enters play having won four of its last five games, the only loss in the string being an overtime defeat at Michigan State.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Wisconsin a -1.5 point favorite for Sunday’s game.
John Shurna leads the Wildcats in scoring at 19.5 points per game, but is questionable after missing Northwestern’s last game with an injury. Jon Leuer paces the Badgers at 19.2 points per game, while Jordan Taylor puts in 17.6 ppg to account for much of the team’s offense.
According to the latest trends, Northwestern is 2-2 over the last three seasons versus Wisconsin.
The only other top-25 game is in Morgantown, WV, as West Virginia hosts South Florida at 2:00PM EST. West Virginia (12-5) lost its first game to Marshall after cracking the top-25 for the first time this week. The Mountaineers are 6-1 at home this season, while South Florida is 0-8 on the road.
