Alabama vs. Florida Pick
Can No. 23 Florida avoid another loss in the SEC when the Gators play host to Alabama today at 4PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Florida is favored at home in this game, as the Gators are getting odds of -7.5 points against Alabama. The over/under total for the contest is set at 144.5 points. Today’s game takes place from Exatech Arena in Gainesville, Florida and will air live on ESPN.
Florida is coming off a 72-60 loss at Georgia for its third loss in six games overall and third loss in its last five SEC games. Florida is 15-7 overall, 6-3 in the SEC and 11-10 against the spread. The Gators are averaging 79.8 points per game on offense this season while allowing 71.8 per game on defense. Jalen Hudson has led Florida this season with 16.2 points and 4 rebounds per game while Egor Koulechov is adding 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.
Alabama is coming off a 69-60 loss at home to Missouri this week. The Tide have lost their last two SEC games. The Tide are now 14-8 overall, 5-4 in the SEC and 11-9-1 against the spread. Bama is averaging 73.8 points per game on offense while allowing 70 per game defensively. Collin Sexton has been leading Alabama with 18.7 points per game while John Petty is scoring 11.5 per game.
Florida has won nine of its last 10 meetings with Alabama, covering the spread in three of the last four meetings as well. These two have not met this season and both come in on shaky ground. Alabama has lost two straight in conference play, as has Florida. However, I still feel the Gators are the better team. They have been very good at home this year for the most part. Alabama isn’t a terribly consistent team and I don’t think they will play well on the road against a Florida team in need of a win. The public betting is strongly behind Alabama today, but I will take my chances on the Gators.
