Connecticut vs. Wichita State Pick
Can No. 22 Wichita State hand Connecticut another lopsided loss when the two teams meet up tonight at 6PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Wichita State is favored at home tonight, as the Shockers are getting odds of -17.5 points against Connecticut. The over/under total for the game is listed at 141.5 points. Today’s game takes place from Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas and will air live on ESPN2.
Connecticut is coming off a 68-65 win over USF this week to snap a three-game losing streak. The Huskies are 12-12 overall, 5-6 in the AAC and 8-13 against the spread. UConn is averaging just 66.9 points per game on offense while allowing 71 per game on defense. Jalen Adams is averaging 17.7 points and 4.2 assists per game to lead the Huskies while Terry Larrier and Christian Vital are both averaging 14.3 points per contest.
Wichita State is coming off an 85-65 win at Memphis this week for its third win in four games. The Shockers are now 18-5 overall, 8-3 in the AAC and 10-11 against the spread. Wichita is putting up 83.3 points per game this season while allowing just 69.4 per contest. Landry Shamet is putting up 14.7 points and 5.3 assists per game to lead the Shockers this season while Darral Willis Jr. is adding 11.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Bet on Connecticut vs. Wichita State
Wichita State won the first meeting this season, 72-62 at UConn back on Dec. 30. The Shockers have covered in four of their last five, being a double-digit favorite in all four of those covers. Connecticut has failed to cover in its last three road games, losing two of the three by at least 18 points. I don’t love giving up so many points, but Connecticut doesn’t have much to offer Wichita State and the Huskies seem to be in a bit of a tailspin right now. The public betting is split here, but I will take my chances on Wichita State.
