College Basketball Predictions: Middle Tennessee vs. Miami 12/25/17

Middle Tennessee vs. Miami Pick

Will No. 6 Miami bounce back from its first loss when it takes on Middle Tennessee tonight at 8:30PM ET in the Diamond Head Classic?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Miami is favored in this game, as the Hurricanes are getting odds of -6 points against the Blue Raiders. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 135 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and will air live on ESPNU.

Miami dropped its first game of the season Saturday night in a 63-54 loss to New Mexico State. The Hurricanes are 10-1 on the season and 5-1 against the spread. The loss to the Aggies was their first failed cover. Miami has been good on defense, allowing just 57 points per game. Offensively, the Hurricanes are putting up 74.7 per contest. Dewan Huell is averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to lead Miami while Bruce Brown Jr. is adding 10.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Middle Tennessee is coming off an 89-84 loss to USC on Saturday. The Blue Raiders are now 8-3 on the season and 4-4 against the spread. They have failed to cover in their last three games. MTSU is averaging 74.2 points per game on offense while giving up 70.2 on defense. Nick King is averaging 22.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to lead the Blue Raiders. Giddy Potts is adding 12.4 points per contest.

Bet on Middle Tennessee vs. Miami

These two have no recent meetings to consider for today’s game. Miami struggled against New Mexico State, as its offense just couldn’t produce points. The Hurricanes are 7-19-1 against the spread in their last 27 games following a loss. The Blue Raiders, on the other hand, are 10-4 ATS after a loss. Given the way they competed against USC, I expect the Raiders to give Miami a run for its money tonight as well. The public betting is siding with Miami tonight, but I think Middle Tennessee gets the job done.
