College Basketball Predictions: North Carolina vs. Clemson 1/30/18

North Carolina vs. Clemson Pick

Who has the edge in a featured ACC game tonight when No. 20 Clemson plays host to No. 19 North Carolina at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, North Carolina is favored on the road, as UNC is getting odds of -2 points against Clemson. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 145 points. Tonight’s game is set to take place from Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina and will air live on ESPN.

North Carolina is coming off back-to-back losses to Virginia Tech and N.C. State despite being favored in both contests. The Tar Heels are 16-6 overall, 5-4 in the ACC and 11-9-1 against the spread. UNC is averaging 82.5 points per game on offense while allowing 72.7 per contest on defense. Luke Maye is leading UNC with 18.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while Joel Berry II is adding 17 points per contest.

Clemson is coming off a 72-70 win at Georgia Tech, but the Tigers have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games. Clemson is now 17-4 overall, 6-3 in the ACC and 10-8 against the spread. The Tigers are averaging 74.8 points per game on offense while allowing just 65.2 per contest on defense. Marcquise Reed is leading Clemson with 15.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while Donte Grantham is adding 14.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest. However, Grantham has been lost for the season with a knee injury.

Bet on North Carolina vs. Clemson

North Carolina has won 10 straight meetings with Clemson, going 8-1-1 against the spread in those 10 games as well. That includes an 87-79 win at UNC on Jan. 16. UNC has been a hard team to pin down this year and has now lost back-to-back games against lesser opponents. However, Clemson has struggled since losing Grantham, failing to cover at UVA and at Georgia Tech. I think the Tigers won’t have the offensive capability to keep pace with the Tar Heels, as long as UNC doesn’t shoot very poorly. The public betting is siding with North Carolina as well.
