College Basketball Predictions: South Florida vs. Wichita State 1/7/18

South Florida vs. Wichita State Pick

Will No. 9 Wichita State cover a very lofty spread at home when it plays host to South Florida today at 4PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Wichita State is favored at home in this game, as the Shockers are getting odds of -29.5 points against USF. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 137 points. Today’s game takes place from Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas and will air live on the CBS Sports Network.

Wichita State has won four straight, including its first two AAC games. The Shockers are now 12-2 overall and 5-7 against the spread. The Shockers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five. Wichita State is putting up 84.4 points per game on offense while allowing 69.6 per contest. Landry Shamet is putting up 17.1 points and 4.6 assists per game to lead the Shockers while Shaquille Morris is adding 12 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.

USF has lost three straight coming into today’s game. The Bulls are now 7-9 overall, 0-3 in the AAC and 4-8 against the spread. The Bulls have failed to cover in their last four games. South Florida is putting up just 63.9 points per game this season while allowing 68.1 per contest. Payton Banks is putting up 12.7 points per game to lead the Bulls while Stephan Jiggetts is adding 11.6 points per contest.

Bet on South Florida vs. Wichita State

These two have no recent meetings to consider for today. Wichita State is obviously the better team in this pairing, but covering a spread of this size is no easy task. USF has suffered a recent 40-point loss at SMU where it was just 14 of 50 shooting. The Shockers bring a defense that is capable of holding the Bulls down as well. Wichita State is also averaging 90 points per game at home this year, so I believe they will have the offense to cover this big spread while holding the Bulls in check. The public betting is slightly with Wichita State and I agree.

CBB DAILY PREDICTION: WICHITA STATE -29.5
