St. John’s vs. Arizona State Pick

Can No. 16 Arizona State manage to stay unbeaten when it takes on St. John’s later tonight at 8PM ET in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Arizona State is favored in this game, as the Sun Devils are getting odds of -5.5 points against St. John’s tonight. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 159 points. Tonight’s game will take place from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and air live on the P-12 Network.

Arizona State is off to a 7-0 start to the season thanks to a 75-57 win over San Francisco last weekend. The Sun Devils are 6-1 against the spread, covering the spread in their last six games. ASU is averaging 92.7 points per game on offense this year while giving up 73.6 per contest on defense. Tra Holder is leading the team with 22.1 points and 6 rebounds per game while Shannon Evans II is adding 18.7 points and 5.1 assists per game.

St. John’s is 8-1 on the season following a 68-60 win over Grand Canyon. The Red Storm are 4-3 against the spread, covering in their last two games. This will be their first true road game of the season. St. John’s is putting up 75.5 points per game this season while allowing 62.1 per contest. Shamorie Ponds is leading the team with 20.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Marcus LoVett is adding 14.9 points per contest. LoVett is doubtful to play tonight due to a knee injury.

Bet on St. John’s vs. Arizona State

St. John’s won its last meeting with Arizona State back in 2010, but I think the Sun Devils get revenge tonight. ASU has tremendous scoring balance and are putting up big totals each game. St. John’s has been a good team, but the Red Storm are likely to be without one of their top players in Lovett. The public betting is strong with Arizona State tonight and I agree.
