College Basketball Predictions: Will Michigan cover 7.5 vs. Northwestern?

Northwestern vs. Michigan Pick

Can No. 25 Michigan defend its home floor tonight and pick up a comfortable win over Northwestern when the two meet up tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Michigan is favored at home, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -7.5 points against Northwestern. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 132 points. Tonight’s game is set to take place from the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan and will air live on FS1.

Northwestern has won back-to-back games coming into tonight, defeating Minnesota and Penn State. The Wildcats are 13-9 overall, 4-5 in the Big Ten and 8-11 against the spread. Northwestern is putting up 72.4 points per game on offense while allowing 68 per contest on defense. Scottie Lindsey is averaging 14 points per game to lead the Wildcats while Bryant McIntosh is averaging 13 points and 5.5 assists per contest.

Michigan is coming off a 92-88 loss at Purdue this weekend, covering an 11-point spread in the process. The Wolverines are now 17-6 overall, 6-4 in the Big Ten and 13-8-1 against the spread. Michigan is averaging 73.9 points per game on offense this season while allowing 63.8 per contest. Charles Matthews is averaging 14.4 points and 5.1 rebounds to lead Michigan this season while Moritz Wagner is adding 14.3 points and 7 rebounds per contest.

Bet on Northwestern vs. Michigan

Michigan has won eight of its last 10 meetings with Northwestern, but the Wildcats have covered the spread in four of the last five meetings. It’s been a disappointing season for the Wildcats thus far, but are they finally getting on track? Michigan has been a bit up-and-down, as it barely squeaked out a win at home over Maryland and then played well at Purdue this weekend. Being a big favorite hasn’t been the best thing for the Wolverines. They failed to cover in three of their last four as an 8-point favorite or more. It’s a tough call, but I am going to take Northwestern with the points. The public betting backing Michigan, but I will take the Wildcats.
