Virginia vs. Clemson Prediction

The Clemson Tigers are a home underdog today against Virginia at 12:00PM ET. Are they a good bet to cover?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are now 2.5-point home underdogs versus the Cavaliers after opening as a 2-point dog. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 124.5 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

London Perrantes scored 24 points as the No. 11 Cavaliers rolled past Wake Forest 79-62 last Sunday night. Virginia used a 10-0 second-half run to pull away from the Demon Decons. Perrantes scored all but five of his points in the second half as the Cavaliers rebounded after back-to-back losses to then-No. 12 Florida State and at Pittsburgh. Marial Shayok also added 17 points in the victory.

Clemson, meanwhile, has lost three straight games. Ben Lammers had 23 points and 10 rebounds while Quinton Stephens added 16 points for Georgia Tech in the Yellow Jackets’ 75-63 win over the Tigers on Thursday night. The loss dropped Clemson to 1-3 in conference play and three full games behind Notre Dame in the ACC standings.

OUR PREDICTION: Despite Clemson’s current struggles, I like the Tigers to rebound today. The home team is 8-3-1 against the spread in the last 12 meetings between these two teams while the Cavaliers are just 1-4-1 at the betting window in their last six road games versus the Tigers. Clemson is also a perfect 5-0 against the spread in its last five home games when it takes on an opponent with a road winning percentage of greater than .600.
