UConn, Ollie talking raise
STORRS, CT (TheSpread) – After winning the national championship, should Connecticut be concerned about losing head coach Kevin Ollie?
The Huskies were a surprise national champion last season behind Ollie’s coaching, which has made him attractive to other suitors, including the NBA. Ollie’s name has already been linked as a possible replacement for the L.A. Lakers, and the Golden State Warriors recently let go of coach Mark Jackson.
The Huskies are currently in talks with Ollie about potentially doubling his salary, which would put him in the upper tier in pay amongst college coaches. Ollie made $1.25 million this past season, which was his second season leading the Huskies.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Connecticut now has 50/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament in 2015. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite to win it all next season, with 5/1 odds. Duke is the next favorite at 10/1.
